BLACK AND WHITE OBJECT ABSTRACTION

This project is designed to help students learn how to create a sense of three-dimensional depth on a two-dimensional surface. I began the project by working with the concept of abstraction from my earring, a representational object. First, I developed rough pencil sketches on printer paper, then more refined sketches in pen on Bristol board. Next, I arranged their abstractions in potential compositions on tracing paper. Finally, creating a final composition using pen and marker on the Bristol board. This continued building skill sets in different media doing two-dimensional designs. For my final composition, I cut out my bristol board to create physical depth, while using drawing techniques to illustrate my abstractions coming out of the canvas.
